Esquire bridge?
Does anybody know where you could go to get one of the tele bridges that has the strings strung through the back of the bridge as opposed to through the body. I played one at a music store in my area (59 re-issue?), and the feel of its just blew me away, as well as the way it rang. I'm gonna do an esquire clone after christmas, and I really want one of these bridges.
Thanks for any help you can offer guys,
Travis

Re: Esquire bridge?
Hey, Travis... All Parts (www.allparts.com)makes a bridge that strings thru the back of the bridge, but it has a flat baseplate, so it wont accept a tele bridge cover (the ashtray), and it does not quite look vintage. Its chrome, and carries a part# TB_5034-010. Im about 3/4 thru the same build as you are, a replica of a '61 Esquire. Good luck!!!!ohmygodtheykilledkenny wrote:Does anybody know where you could go to get one of the tele bridges that has the strings strung through the back of the bridge as opposed to through the body. Thanks fill. I will check that out and see how it looks. My main concern is gonna be feel and tone, but I love how the originals look like they want to be played, and look like everything on them is pure functionality. I might surf ebay because occasionaly, you see guys selling the guts of these custom shop guitars for a decent price. I still got a ways till I get started as my parents have locked down my bank account till february. I spent all the money I made over the past two years on gear, and that pushed them to lock it up. Since I'm only 16, they have control over my withdrawals, and they won't let me use their credit cards on sites such as warmoth. Doesn't matter though, I'm quite happy with my current set-up.
I'm using my temporary financial suspension, to think through every part of this build, since I want this one to be "the" build. Good luck with your build as well, send me some pics once its complete.
Out of curiosity, what pickup are you figuring on using?
Again thank you,
Travis

Hey, Trav... Im using an overwound Fralin for the bridge pickup. This guitar has a little "stealth trick" to it though, in that although it has an esquire pickguard and decal, it does have a neck pickup UNDER the guard. The body already had a humbucking route for the neck position, so I mounted a late model Gibson Firebird bridge position pickup under there. Being that its a bridge position pickup, it has enough power to give the amp a decent signal even though its hidden underneath the guard. Im not quite done with mine, as I pulled it apart after it was all together, and Im giving it the relic treatment on the body and hardware. Ill post some pics when its done. Its funny that your parents locked up your finances, cause my mom used to do the same thing to me (cause she could), and now my wife tries it too (unsuccessfully, cause she cant). Some things never change, bro.ohmygodtheykilledkenny wrote:Thanks fill. I will check that out and see how it looks. Damn...financial lockdown, the inescapable fate of the tone chasers!
Good choice with the fralin pickup, I have them in my strat and they rape any other pickup/strat that I have ever heard. I'm thinking of going with Bareknuckle Pickups "Blackguard Tele" when I do my project. They are patterned of a set of original broadcaster pickups, and after talking with the proprietors, it sounds like it might be the best pickup for my purpose.
Now I'm all jacked and ready to build, way to go
Have fun relic'ing,
Travis

14k, holy shiat, thats hotter than jessica alba without a shirt. Seriously though, I imagine that sounds great, like a Les Paul with that fender snap.
I think their pretty in their own way, kinda like primered rat rods, just raw functional beauty.
I'm feelin the itch guys, real bad. I'm gonna build a rangemaster first, with an actual OC44 (its only gonna cost like $50, so why not), then the esquire with a bareknuckle pickup, then I'm gonna do a balls to the wall cover of Bullfrog Blues (Rory Gallagher)
.
Keep it real boys,

There aint much in this world hotter than Jessica Alba without a shirt, Trav... with the possible exception of Jessica Biel without a shirt... in my apartment... slightly drunk... UMMM, WHAT?? Was I just dreaming?? (yeah, probably). Anyway, post that clip of that Bullfrog Blues when you're done with it. Maybe Ill do the same with a supercharged cover of "Born on the Bayou", runnin' a Gibson Firebird thru my Soldano!!ohmygodtheykilledkenny wrote:14k, holy shiat, thats hotter than jessica alba without a shirt. I'd love to hear clips of the bird, they've always intrigued me what with the mini-buckers and neck thru design.
