May 10/2007 5:52 p.m. the United States District Court Southern District Of California Case No. 05CV1200-LAB(CAB) entered a judgment in the court protocol: Based upon the agreement of the parties as represented or reflected in the documents above, Jzchak Wajcman is therefore the sole owner of the common law trademark ?Bill Lawrence? for use on musical products in all 50 states, and judgment is entered accordingly.
Bill and Becky acknowledge in a consent judgment that Jzchak Wajcman owns the common law trademark ?Bill Lawrence? and has the right to enforce that trademark with respect to products.

The consequence of your negative response to cooperate will result in a complete removal of your listing by eBay. Ebay will refund you 100% of your money. When you list this product again please do not use the Bill Lawrence Trademark

I jacked the price up to $200 just so it could stay up on Ebay for a couple of days.

If I remember correctly the L500L was one of the OBL series. They appeared in Germany in the 80s and got distributed by everybody for a few years.

I still have an OBL L500XL in one of my guitars. This guitar is my heavy axe (even though I don't play HM). The pickup is great for guitars that have a Floyd Rose. I would not necessarily recommend it for a traditional guitar such as a Les Paul.

I believe the L500L would still be loud but not as loud as the XL.

The OBL series is discontinued I believe.

The old OBL L500XL's were the BOMB and did work Awesome with a Floyd Rose tremolos.

The old ones come in a box w/ silver cardboard with black script writing.

Last year I bought another Bill Lawrence Pickup and WHOA this thing sucks bad!!!!

It's still in a drawer gathering dust.

The good ones had a metal casing.Thicker Metal Blades

Bill, Ruth or whoever is making the pickups now with the red rubber lead , thin metal baldes and black plastic casing.

...needs to go back to pickup winding school....something

It seems that somewhere in the past that Bill Lawrence lost the rights of his company name to a fellow named Jzchak Wajcman. This whole saga is real confusing to understand. But seriously, I would rather buy a Bill Lawrence pickup from Bill himself. The sad part is that the pickups from both manufacturers look very similar, and what Lawrence product you might find in a music store could be from either guy.

I've had humbucking 10 string pickups from both guys and they were both good, the one made by Bill was better by my tastes, so who knows.

On a side note, I'm a pedal steel guitarist, and I was looking for a humbucking pickup for my pedal steel a few years back. I called the Bill Lawrence company where the "real" Bill works and had the pleasure of talking to him a good long while. He's a super interesting, nice guy.
