Stratmasters DVD ?

Post by NY Chief » Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:15 pm

Looks great, huh?

Got mine last night and neither disc will play on any of the DVD players in the house (5).

It does play on my computer DVD player but only disc 1. Disc 2 does not play. Additionally disc 1 audio only plays on the right side. The left side is pure white noise.

I'm very disappointed. Especially since it opens with Rory Gallagher on slide!

I noticed that it is in PAL format which may be a problem vs NSTA??

This what is says on the website though...

DUH!

That would be NTSC!

Here's a link discussing the differences. Sounds like the problem.

Yeah Chief..same here...unplayable on any DVD player but okay on the computer.

Disc 1 and 2 play and are okay on the left/right sides.

Seems like the way they approached the duplication is a bit suspect.

On another note...
Love Rory - that guy could play a broomstick with a coffee can on one end and a rubber band tied from it to the other end and put you right square at the crossroads in Mississippi on the hottest day in summer with the crickets chirping in the background with you hitchin' a ride in some old tobacca spittin' man's collar-shift Ford pickup.

That's some powerful noise that can do that!

GREAT description of Rory. Hard to believe that boy didn't grow up at the crossroads!

No need to apologize, Dave. Sounds like I got a couple of bad discs if Cole's works OK on the 'puter. The PAL vs NTSC thing I guess is my problem if I don't have new enough equipment to play it on.

If they make on disc 2 at least I can wtach it on the PC. Apparently there are some conversion tricks I can try per the link above. Good to see Gallagher opening it up!

Update, Bob at Stratmasters is cutting a few NTSC versions. I will be sending my PAL version back and he is going to ship me DVD in NTSC.

Excellent customer service and timely replies just like Metro. My faith in man is restored (for a while... )
