I gotta go along with 45 on this one. It seems like a LOT of money for basically a kit guitar. I have absolutely no doubt that you could build a Warmoth to those exact specs for 1/3 that price, and even if that Carruthers sounded a little better (which I kinda doubt) IMO, its not worth THAT much more money. If you ever tried to sell it a few years from now, I think you'd end up taking a substantial loss on it IMHO. (Plus, did you notice its a 7 day listing, with only a day left, and there are no bids on it???) :? :? :?

I totally agree with 45 and Fill on this. Warmoth is VERY, VERY hard to beat, at both price and quality. I've checked into other companies, but would have to say that warmoth are tops. They have the best, most accurate tooling and equipment, whereas, some of the other guy's cant even match to a decent degree, a maple on maple neck. Hell they come off as mismatched looking as a rosewood board on a maple neck. I would even put a Warmoth made guitar over a similar styled 'custom' one off, by some 'Super Duper' Luthier.

warmoth kits top of the heap!

I agree with toneslinger, I have built my last 3 kits out of warmoth wood and I got great results, first was "FRANK" a swamp ash strat with hockey stick maple neck, then I built a EVHMM copy body-alder w/birdseye top and maple tele neck, and in 2001 I built the scooter-caster, what I perceive as my signature guitar! one piece korina, maple strat "reverse" neck! the compund radius is great!

Kind of a generic looking "super" strat if you ask me. Why pay that kind of cash when you can go the Warmoth or Musikraft course. It's more in the spirit of VH to slap together your own concoction verses some hyped up over priced forgettable guitar like that. You can even buy a pre-routed body blank and cut out your own particular cool strat shape. I always say this but, why not buy a real pre-lawsuit Ibanez Destroyer for under $2k and ride the real tiger?!?!

Youre supposed to keep the cat in the bag about these guitars until my wife lets me spend the $2K on the old Ibanez! 8)

You know, I see what ya'll are sayin' about the Destroyer. It is basically a Gibson Explorer (24 3/4 scale, tunomatic bridge and stop tail piece), except it is made of Japanese 'sensa', or something, which is supposed to be a species of ash. The Explorer ,as we all know,is mahogany. Regardless, I am currently likeing playing old EVH stuff on Gibsons (reissue V). You can definatly hear the stuff Ed used his Destroyer on. It has that distinct Gibson type quality. WACF, was predominantly recorded with Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P) 'unfucked' up Destroyer. You can hear that tone all over that album, as well as the fact that Ed only used a tremelo twice, I think.
