It's true Fullerplast is an evil brew, my '65 showed the yellow stuff under it's chips, anybody else care to comment?

I would love for taht to be the case. So much of this kind of stuff is people hearing something then spreading it as if they know its true by experience. How can you compare a guitar with a nitro to one without? How can you attribute any difference to the nitro when your playing 2 completely different guitars. Even if you use the same neck. Maybe if you refinished the guitar from scratch. Thats about the only way you can compare finishes.

My Highway 1 Tele that I converted to a TeleGib is nitro on top and some kind of poly clear over the wood. The nitro came off with easy with lacquer thinner but the sealer didn't move at all.

I personally like nitro, but,my fav all time strat tones are from Jimi's black maple board strat. I'm not sure about the body (probably nitro), but at around '67 or '68 Fender started using poly on thier necks. Poly discolors much slower than nitro. I would probably tint some poly and spray a neck to 'vintage' color, rathr than darken nitro any, cause in a few years the nitro one would darken WAY too much.

Seems the only real way to get nitro done today anyway is to do it yourself.
