the old Gibson factory is about 7 minutes from my house... here is a guy that I took my Les Paul to when I first got it... He used to work there as well... The most knowledgeable person about Paul's I have ever met... a really cool guy that has a ton of stories too bad about Heritage

I see he offers luthier training. Now that you're an amp builder maybe you should start buidling axes, too!

I seriously considered the notion but his luthier training is for acoustics only... I am confident I can make a Metro so just as good if not better than a real Marshall but I am not so confident I can make an acoustic aound better than my Martin! I do have a old project of building an electric guitar... just the body and electronics, I thought I would buy the neck from Warmoth or something.... I want to make it out of a SINGLE piece of wood, not glued together... but I found out that the wood must be aged for MANY years to avoid warping... I really don't want to glue and clamp so I got a really old piece of ash from our hunting property up north and I have been letting it sit for a couple of years now... I am not sure how long I need to let it sit to avoid warping later on... If anyone has any knowledge on I would be curious to hear how long I really need to let it sit... I had really put the whole project out of mind until your mentioned it... maybe I can work on that in the New Year
