Question before i buy a guitar.

Post by ACDCG400 » Mon Dec 31, 2007 2:12 pm

Is there much sonic difference between a solid body and acoustically chambered. This related to a les paul copy from Rondomusic.com. there is a solidbody of the one i want, but i heard chambered is better. this would be a custom and i would have to wait 3-4 months. i don't know if it's worth the extra wait. :? what do you guys think?

I had a chambered LP, and I felt that I could hear the difference. Its not drastic, like the diff between a fully hollow guitar and a solid body, but I think if its done right, the difference is audible. The other obvious benefit is weight reduction. My LP was noticeably light weight, which is always welcome in a LP.
(PS- I LOVE that little "video" that runs in the column of your posts!! Awesome!!)

Some think it's key to tone. Brian May's REd Special that he built with his Dad is supposedly chambered. And that man does get tone!!!
