Have any of you guys tried a Kahler or Gotoh "behind the nut" lock? I've never been really impressed with Kahler trems; personal preference I guess, but their stringlock kind of seemed like a good alternative to hacking up the fingerbaord and installing a Floyd nut. I widened the slots of the low E, G and B which seemed to help. Any suggestions?

I can pretty much do a dive bomb with the strings falling off the fretboard and snap right back into tune.

I've tried the three roller but the 6'er is the way to go since each string has a different tension.

Cool, do they seem to brighten your sound much? I would think it would only affect open notes, but I've never retrofitted a nut w/ a brass or metal one. I've got a bone nut in there now. Also, would this work w/ an angled headstock?

I really never understood the value of these. I had a Carvin guitar in the 80s that had one like this. Although it seemed to work ok.

Both the strinlgock and the roller nut are just two different ways of dealing with friction at the nut that causes tuning problems. My headstock is angled, so I couldn't use the roller nut and the spacing of my Hamer is actually too wide for a stringlock, so I widened the slots a little more, adjusted the break angle of the nut and used some chapstick on it, and it seems to be staying in tune pretty well now.
