Smit's pickups review

In addition to my
earlier thread, I wanted to share the comments I sent to Kevin at Smit's below. Nothing against other hand-made brands that I haven't tried, but I'm very happy with these. They just blow away the stock pickups I replaced.
I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your pickups. I replaced the stock Gibson's in my '89 Les Paul custom with a BC9-4 in the bridge and a CC-3 in the neck. Wow!!! They sound great. They are very warm and thick sounding, without the harsh high-end I had before. They nail the Zeppelin, Free and AC/DC tones that I wanted from this guitar. It finally just sounds "right" with my '67 plexi clone.

Thats cool that you like them. Kevin makes a nice pickup period! I was impressed with mine!

Nice review of his pickups in Vintage Guitar too.
I can't rave enough about Kevin's pickups. Especially considering the price!!!

Piling on...
I just got a Classic Coils A2 set. Ordered them Friday with rush delivery (just because) and Kevin got them built, potted, and mailed the same day. Installed them Monday night.
Awesome tone -
exactly what I was looking for! A huge improvement over the SD '59 set I was using. Very balanced, detailed and defined. Sweet top end and killer mids. The A2 gives just the right amount of natural compression. The split coil sounds are very nice as well, and the output drop isn't so drastic - the '59 cut the volume way back in split mode.

Hey all my friends, thanks for the compliments on my pickups. I do everything I can to keep these things cutting edge, but grounded in their vintage roots. I am a fan of both worlds, vintage and modern and your input here helps me direct where some new ideas go. Whatever I can do, don't hesitate to contact me.
