Walnut SG's

Anybody here with a 60's or early 70's walnut SG? How do they sound compared to mahogany? And what's their weight? Clearer mids and bass, like maple with less highs, or rosewood, or mahogany with more highs - that's what I found so far.
I was after this walnut SG on ebay - which is gone now, but I'm interested in this topic anyway.

...obviously - I'm thinking of a whole walnut guitar. Gibson used walnut every once in a while on SG's in the sixties. I read all I could find about walnut as a tonewood, but there's still some open questions - like always - f.e. I'd like to know the approximate weight of a walnut SG, etc. I'll go over to the LPF and post there too.
yeah, that's mahogany.
It's walnut - if you mean the guitar in the pics. You can hardly see it. I wonder how it changes the feel of the instrument.

No, they used walnut on one SG model, and that was in '79-'80, and not worth discussion.
It's a terrible guitar, but walnut isn't a good wood for an electric guitar anyhow.

The standard 'other' color became walnut in the late '60s.
I have never played a pleasant Gibson guitar that was walnut in color, doubleneck excluded.
The doubleneck that mostly only came in walnut is the one to have. Pagey, and all.

??? - hm, you're right. Where the hell did I get this idea? Shit! I'm getting angry about the lost opportunity now. The guitar looks great, doesn't it? But as I was checking the features with the seller by mail, somebody else grabbed it. F****** rat race.
I still believe that they build some walnut SG's in the mid-seventies, before 'The SG' - but shit, I don't care anymore.
Check this out - not what the guy's talking - but how this 68 Standard sounds compared to the VOS 64 Standard. The recording is done very well and the difference speaks for itself, even if you're not into AC DC that much. I'm gonna keep my eyes open...

I like an (new even!) SG special, or jr., with a humbucker screwed into the wood.
