Patent # Humbucker

A friend just recently gave me an old patent # Gibson humbucker (circa '68-'69) measuring around 7.45 K ohms. Upon removing the chrome cover, I was surprised to find that there was no "T" on top of the coils. Is that correct? It appears to be all original.

It was to my understanding that all of the patent # pups had "T" tops.

Maybe some of the experts can chime in?

Decal? If it's a decaled pat #, and no T's, surprise, you just got a PAF.. basically.

It has a short wire, it was mounted in the bridge.. I am psychic.

Chrome cover.. if it's stickered, it's a ''64-65.

If the number is struck into the bottom plate, it's mid/late '70's. Post-T. heh

Sorry, I should have given more details about it... yes, it has the little black "patent #" sticker, double-black coils, long wire and short magnet. It was the "neck pickup" in a '69 SG. It was original to the guitar... could it perhaps be a left-over PAF? Strange.

Congrats... those mid '60's pat# pickups are killer. I've never heard a mid '60's humbucker Gibson that didn't have great pickups.

Doh! I am on dogfood sometimes. I opened up my guitar today, and realized that stickers happend more laterer than I previously stated.
