I was looking at the string spacing and pole pieces on the Gibson 57 classic neck pickup in my '90 LP Classic this morining... and noticed that they are all offset ... getting worst from Low E to Treble E...

Is this because it has a bridge pickup installed in the neck position? Can this explain that I was getting wayyyyy too much bassy boomyness when using it... util I swapped the tone cap for a 0.01uf instad of the 0.022 that was there?

Can this contribute to shitty sound? if the string is not right above the screw? Should it be swapped out?

I asked a similar question to Jim at WCR and his response was:
Don't worry about spacings. We once took a polymer "Field Finder," which you lay on a magnet to show the field. When laid on a humbucker, the top of the whole pickups is so saturated in field, you have to strain very hard to even see the pole pieces at all. And, the two outside strings bend inwards, even closer to the center of the screws.
