Problem with Pyramid strings

Post by Smokin Tone » Thu May 08, 2008 10:07 pm

I ordered some Nickel Classics 10-46. The low E string sounds dead. Flat and lifeless. All of the others sound great. I thought I may have gotten a bum string so I pulled one out of another pack and installed it. Same thing. Is this typical of these strings or am I just having a bad day?

I've never had problems with pyramids. I've never had a pure nickel string that sounded so good. I use the white and blue sets - not the white and green ones. they are dirt cheap at thomann.de

Yeah I got the Orange ones. I put some Daddario's back on and everything is good. It must be a bad run. I'm not trash talking Pyramids but these have a problem. I guess I'll try a third set and see what happens. Like I say it's just the low E string. All others seem fine.

Monsieur Batz, wherebouts do you purchase your Pyramid Strings? Nowhere that I have found locally sells them. I have only tried the Green and white packaged ones, where can I score those orange ones?

Are you shure?

I haven't tried Pyramid pure nickel yet, but some other brands including SOB pure nickel and haven't found any string, what makes the same or still a more woody tone, as the Gibson Vintage Reissue Pure Nickel does.

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

SOB are good strings. I don't like the current gibson pure nickel strings. pyramids sound brighter, more punchy and defined. and very warm. not like the steel strings.I prefer these on my mal young gretsch and my esquire
