hi i have had a hum problem in my apt for years.
when ever i play out no problem, just at home.
i have had 2 ephiphone les pauls. both had the same hum.
i had allways assumed it was my apt/electrical noise.
well saturday a friend boought over his les paul (gibson)
and there was no noise  wtf so then the next day
another friend brought over another gibson les paul std.
his was as noisy as my ephiphone. does anyone have an idea
why 1 guitar has noise and another doesnt???????
the gibson les paul that made noise like mine is factory
stock.

I had something like this.... I could not figure it out... until the day my girlfriend turned off the TV while i was playing... and the noise went away....

I asked her... "What did you just do 2 seconds ago...!" ... She seemed confused... but it was the TV... in another room...

i wish it was that easy. i found out that the quiet guitar has a
metal cover over the pots inside the control cavity.
im going to try an ebtech hum eliminator.
ill report my results.

buy some copper or Aluminum tape for duct work and shield the inside of the cavity. That worked for me...

Some guitars... if you hold them horizontaly... as if it were lying on its back and the strings are facing the ceiling become dead quite...

Also... move away from your amp... that creates noise too.
