I went down to Emerald City Guitars (seattle) to buy a BB Pre pedal and was talking to the owner about gear. I knew he had a '60 but didn't know he had a real '59 as well. He asked if I wanted to see it and what do you think I said ...

It was in really good condition. No burst, more of a lemon color. Very light flames, no checking and only one ding. I held it and it seemed to be in the mid 8lbs range. I didn't really play it but I plucked the strings and it reminded me a lot of my Historic, so I guess that's a good thing.

Anyways, it's not everyday that you get to play a $400k guitar so I thought I'd share. My heart is actually racing!!

Same with me. When I bought me JP LP the dealer also had a Rossington and a couple of R8 & R9 Anderson relic'd. He said this feels like a real '59, eh? I said I never felt a real '59. He says I'll be right back and comes out of the other room with a real '59. I almost shit. It was nice holding "the grail"

I played a '53 Telecaster that was unbelievably light. Couldn't believe how light it was.

Real thick neck too. No compound radius on this thing!

Fortunate to have played a few '59's over the last 3 decades but the coollest to me was when I played Seth Lover's Prototype at a guitar show. When I asked what the heck is this hole doing here drilled right through the top of the headstock?
The recent owner said that's where he used to hang it on the wall in the shop.

I played Roy Buchanan's Tele at a NAMM show years ago. An older woman had a both right next to GMS and there was an old Tele on a table on a stand right next to me. After looking at it for 3 days I finally said to the the lady, "That's some old war horse of a Tele, eh?" She says "Yes, would you like to play it?" I said sure. As I was noodling around with it she says "That is Roy Buchanan's Tele" I nearly shit my pants

"ROY BUCHANAN!!! I LOVE ROY!!! How is he?"

"Dead" she said. "I'm his wife"

I played a real '58 about 6 month ago at the Leeds Guitar Show for

I played a real '58 last year. Compared to my Tokai it was heavier, not by much but it was "meatier" if you get my meaning. The neck was wonderful. Wide but slim, just how i like them.
