YNGWIE DUCK STRATOCASTER

Post by yngwie308 » Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:24 am

I don't care anymore I am going public with this.
There will only be 36 guitars available to the US market, and the rest will be for international sale.
Only 6 guitars will be bought by Guitar Center, for the whole country.
The announcement will be in October, November and Yngwie will headline a presentation shindig at the Hollywood Guitar Center.
Also the price will be, are you ready......$12,000.00 plus tax !!!!
So what do you think of that.
I have been trying to get information from Fender since 2005 and I have all the inside info from Fender through my contacts, it's just if you don't have the full price when they are announced, you can have your order in since last year and it is first come first served.
I am trying to get one, so there it is the latest from Fender and I don't care if they know I leaked it.
It is only fitting of course that the Fender Stratocaster's first true signature endorsee, should have a magnificent hand made replica that costs the equal of the SRV #1, still cheaper than Blackie or Frankenmonster, but outside most of us non-lawyer, investor playboy types. I am somewhat dissapointed in the price point, but in my heart of hearts, I knew this was realistically going to be the price range.
Discuss amongst yourselves.....

Also as far as the Ferrari stickers, Fender would have to pay a
hefty price to Ferrari and also Walt Disney for the Duck, to use the likenesses, which if they aren't on the guitar, is ridiculous at that price. Mattell owns all the rights to Ferrari models in the US for example and paid tons for that.
I think I would like to spend the money on renting this Ferrari F40 for a track day... 8)

This has been terribly freeing in a way, I thought, I could buy a real 1970 Strat for this money, build a Custom Shop Stratocaster unscalloped, with the 4 bolt machine screw bullet neck and I would love it with DiMarzios, ect.
Thanks for the compliments guys, yes I should receive an honorary Duck from Yngwie himself for all the tireless promotion I do for him at every ones expense..  Thanks for putting up with me guys, I do admire many players and styles as you know, it's just I could never play like Yngwie that I find strangely appealing, yet also frustrating!!
Chief has some cool axes, that is for sure.!!

Sorry you can't afford one, but I hear you on the liberated deal.

Who the hell can afford to buy these guitars? Can these people actually play? Do they?

Today is flabbergasted rhetorical Q day.

Yngwie, I was never a huge fan of his style, but I definitely admire the guy. Somehow he became a guy who was "cool" to make fun of or whatever for some people, but I never got that. I heard him on some album play and sing a Hendrix tune or two, and cover a VH tune -- all stellar, all gutsy to do. He is one of the best of all time, no doubt.

 oops, did I say that loud? 8)

The JB and Rory weren't terribly overpriced. The JB is priced along with the Historic types. The Rory (as you know) has a genuine vintage Strat feel that you're not gonna see in a real one under $18K-$20K+. And, the JP I can justify the same way. That's the closet I'll ever get to owning a '58-'59 LP! (the guitar of my boyhood dreams)! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

That's some great T shirt, innt? I laughed my ass off when a good buddy sent that to me when I was breaking his balls about something. I wish it was real. I'd buy 7 of them. One for each day! :o

Right On ToneBone,   . I have become a man and grown up, no longer a boy-wonder, so let them buy the wannabe guitars, I hope one day to own one of Yngwie's actual stage guitars, not all these sig models he used to sign over at some guys house that they auction on the Bay one day.
Fender are monsters and they piss me off on a regular basis, Leo would turn in his grave. They can build affordable semi-custom guitars for the regular Joe to afford, if they wanted to. It always cracked me up that the first JB Strat had dual Lace Senors in the bridge when Jeff never played such a beast ever himself!!!
Component bolt together guitars like Fenders do have their own vibe as they age and often the right combination of parts equals the right equation, as in Rory's guitar, SRV #1, Duck, ect., the real ones I'm talking about. The relic'd guitars from them can feel very good and if you close your eyes, they can often feel like the real things, but they are still fakes, even if built by hand by Fender. :)
As for the 'real' Duck pictures, there are only so many out there, but I will do my best.

Got that one Mike thanks, appreciate it, as looking is all we will be doing..
Here is what I told Yngwie's management, through his fan club forum moderators:
Tomorrow I am getting my deposit refunded on the Duck replica as the ludicrous price of $12K+ is beyond the means of most of us humble Yngwie fans/enthusiast players.
I heard that Yngwie himself was the cause of all the delay, ie; negotiating the right money. Sure he deserves it and yes it is smart to time it with the new CD out and the tour, but as a major fan, I am disappointed.
I have spoken to quite a few industry insiders about all this, and they said even when the SRV #1 came out, his huge fans passed on the guitar as it was so expensive.
The limiting of the production is a reason Fender is using to justify the expense of this guitar, they hope. Sure the 35 in the Orient will sell out and the 35 for the Continent will also, the 35 or 36 for the US will also, but the dealers aren't happy, besides Guitar Center that is (who only are buying 6), that tells me a lot right there, as if they owned the guitar, they would be charging at least as much, but making many more.
Us older faithful fans fell somewhat shorted on all this and if someone could mention that to our maestro on our behalf, that would be appreciated.
Those of us who bought Yngwie's 'ordinary' signature models, which took a few years to closely approach the specs of his stage guitars, have supported him through DVD, CD sales, ect. and of course, touring, feel that we could have had a better deal.
This whole replica thing is getting to be ridiculous, especially in light of our economy. I'm sure Yngwie can use his percentage and I am in no way criticizing him personally, my anger if you will, is directed at Fender, who are passing off these 'replica' guitars, which vaguely cosmetically resemble the originals, but can't of course sound as good. Yngwie himself has stated that the Duck still sounds incredible, but it isn't his preferred choice to play any more. We that are knowledgeable in the guitar business, can buy our own 1971 original Stratocasters in White, with maple necks, if there are any that Yngwie hasn't bought himself, left.
I would prefer to do that for that price, than have a cosmetic replica, which is just that, fancy flight case, probably the making of DVD, signed by YJM, copy of the new CD included, ect.
I have closely followed with much excitement the origins of this Custom Shop guitar and again I am truly dissapointed with the way this has played out.
Randy Ciak has been making his quality unofficial, ie, not $12K Duck replicas for some time.
Maybe I am tiring of this whole fan/rockstar scene, Yngwie certainly is the last of the breed of eighties rockstars and he is one of the most talented and gifted musicians of our modern era. And I have much personal admiration for him, so just stating my opinion to the powers that be in Yngwie's management.
Thanks for listening

Apparently paid by the dance or something like that, I think she deserves her own signature Stratocaster!! A lot less than $12K, unless you are Elliot Spitzer!!  By the way my wife has seen it.
You should see the avatars on the Les Paul Forum, a lot more XX.
Btw, here is a cool site that parts out YJM's including the bulllet truss rod 4 bolt neck with machine screw bolts and brass inserts!
