I have a Fenix LP copy which is really a nice guitar. Lately, when I play lead parts, I hear this annoying sound of like the pic hitting the string at the same time that Im playing. It stops me in my tracks. Also when I palm the strings and play single notes it's like I can hear every single little thing and It just sounds wierd. Could it be from the wiring or a pot or something?

This is just what happens with a cranked amp and usually unpotted or lightly potted pickups. Everything gets amplified and more sensitive.

You just have to learn to play more cleanly and its a good thing IMO. You can get a lot of expression.

I like that too. Since I switched from potted burstbuckers to unpotted High Orders in my R8, I get more overtones and other "strange" sounds. I think they pick up more of the wood's character?

Yeah, sounds likely, but what about noise, I seem to be picking up a little more noise but Im not sure if it's the grounding of the pup or a preamp tube. Anyway, the pickup is a duncan custom 5.

I didn't notice any increase in noise when going from potted to unpotted. I started to hear the creaking of my strap locks moving when I wasn't playing and when I touched the wood though.
