I think Hendrix's 'Woodstock' white '68 strat would fetch the most if sold today. Probably well over a million dollars. I think his BOG's "Black Beauty" strat would also come in second. Maybe Ed's 'Frankenstein' would come in third ? What do yall think ?

I would say it would have to be a contest between the following:

- The aforementioned Hendrix guitars
- Pagey's #1
- EVH's Frankenstrat
- SRV's #1 (Is this the one that got smashed?)
- Les Paul's prototype guitar (the modified Epiphone)

Just one man's opinion!

The market for this kind of stuff is so nuts that it could be ANY of these guitars depending on who you ask (and who's got the money).

I dont know which one IS the most valuable, but I think Jimi's Woodstock Strat SHOULD be. I cant think of a more historically significant, more drool-worthy guitar than that.
Its a virtual monument to a time when music was going thru the most significant change in history, at the most celebrated musical gathering of our time, played by the most idolized, worshipped guitarist ever.
How can that be beat?
If I had a few spare mill, I'd buy it.

Brownie, which sounds a million times better than Blackie, didn't go for that much to Paul Allen.
As historic as it is, I am not that hot for Jimi's Woodstock guitar, the BOG blackie is the real one, to me.
When you are around a big money guitar, after the initial buzz, it's just another guitar..

I think in normal circumstances, that would be true, but in a case like this, the 'star appeal' of the piece outweighs the value of the piece itself IMO. Normally, JP's LP would blow any Strat out of the water, with the possible exception of David Gilmour's #0001 Strat.
But the fact that Hendrix owned the white Strat, and played it at Woodstock, AND the fact that Page is still alive??
I dunno... I think if they were on the auction block, that white Strat would clinch it.
That BOG black Strat aint no slouch either...

I forgot to mention that the mag that did this article listed Jimi's Woodstock at 2 mill, Pages 2 at approx 1.5 mill and the rest at around 1 mill. I think I have the mag around. If I find it I'll post the actuall numbers.

Oh yeah, I bet the Green/Moore Les Paul is up there. Now THAT is not only a great sounding Les Paul (imo les pauls are very hit or miss, with many more misses), but a very good sounding '59 Les Paul.

I agree with Fillmore, I think the Woodstock strat will forever be the most valued electric guitar, and not ONLY valued in monetary ways like mentioned. Much ground was broke on that instrument (as well as the black one) 'sonic transcendence' into things unexplored or not understood. I think the black one, if it wasnt so 'reclusive', could easily take second or third. I dont blame Uli Roth, or whoever has it, for not making it (black strat) a public spectacle. I mean, it supposidly is the only guitar of Hendrix that still has the strings he had on it the day he transcended, never taken off.

I'd say unquestionably Page's #1.
