Hi all, my first post and it's not about amps

Anyway, I really want one of these:

No way can I afford a real vintage one, so that just leaves me Gibson, or maybe a Japanese copy. I think that Gibson make these as a "standard" model, and for more cash an Historic version.

Cash is tight here, so a cheaper one would be good, but I still want a guitar that is well built, plays well, sounds great and looks cool :)

I'd really like to know what peoples experiences are with them. Is the Historic that much better than a "standard" one? Oh, and feel free to tell me what great taste I have, and what great guitars they are

I've got a '97 Special that is real nice. It doesn't have teh wraparound tailpiece, but it's a great guitar. Especially since the previous owner saved me the trouble of swapping out the crappy stock P-100s and put in some Lollar P-90s... I think these go for around $700-$800 on eBay.

I have a preference for the wrap-tail Junior. The lack of a neck p/u cavity theoretically transfers more energy from the neck to the body. When you find a good one, they really smoke.

Those Tokai's look REALLY nice!! Are you getting one locally, or straight from Japan?

it's been shipped from japan now. I'm buing it from edo studios in poland. the dansh and norwegian dealers overchange and only sell the budget models.- the high end models with honduran mahogny is very hard to get. the waiting time for a new guitar is more than half a year now

That's good news for you! But not so good for me :(

Even so, I may well try and get one if the cost isn't "off the scale". I hope that you will be able to give us all a full review, and maybe a clip or two.

You are a fortunate man IMHO :)
