Any thoughts on the new Charvel San Dimas models?

I just picked up 2 off of ebay, a CAR strat style and a black tele body. I should have the SD 1 (strat) on Wednesday and the SD 2 on (tele) by Friday.
I have played both guitars in a store and thought that they played and sounded excellent. Only need a couple upgrades from what I can tell. New vol pot, knobs and switch. Other than that, they are cool guitars. I got them at a decent price too.
Let me know of your thoughts.
Ed

Go over to the Charvels USA forum for the hardcore opinions. They seem to have nice necks and I like the vintage trem, OFR versions. You aren't referring to the Music Zoo versions are you.
Some say the Wayne Guitars by Wayne Charvel are closer to the original San Dimas in many respects, other than the funky headstocks.
I had my eye on the French Dinky Warren DeMartini model Charvel, if it is ever released..
One of my favorite era guitars are Charvels, the 1986 Custom Shop Gary Moore guitars, the white/maple board and Red/rosewood board.

ditto
I had a one humbucker, maple board, ferrari red... sold it... later got a Gibson LP Studio (right when they started with the trapezoid inlays) which I got rid of... I should have kept that Charvel. It was just a straight up, no fluff, attitude guitar. I miss it.

I love my "classics" but after losing that one, I decided to hold on to my Jackson's... even if it hurts.

Wow, an all maple body? I've never heard of that. It must be a very bright guitar. My 85 was made of alder as are the new production models.
My model 3 HH is made of basswood, which is a lot darker sounding that the alder.

yes its a see thru blue maple body and its fairly heavy (not as heavy as 70s strats though!).
the guitar is bright and hard sounding, ive never been really happy with its tone despite many pu changes.
this guitar originally had a kahler and later a floyd rose was added,i bought it cheap years ago.
i think i will use the neck on another body eventually.
george lynch used all maple bodies on some of his 80s guitars i think.

I'm taking the guitar on the right apart and selling the body if you're interested. I bought it from stew-mac, it is a swamp ash body with a curly/flame maple top. I'll let the body go for $110 plus shipping. They are selling at Stew-Mac for $197 + ship.

I'll take it apart and bring it to work and weigh it on one of our UPS scales.
I probably won't be able to take it apart until the weekend.

When you say you had an '85 U.S.A was it an SD or Ft. Worth? You know that the Ft. Worth is still Japan right?
