Warren DeMartini's Guitars

Post by yngwie308 » Mon Nov 10, 2008 12:53 am

Prompted by the Artists section thread on Warren, I decided to assemble a Photobucket album of my DeMartini/Ratt guitars, I chose to expand it to include 'King' Robbin Crosby on of the founders of Ratt, and who is missed. Warren's various Charvels and Performance guitars, were always way cool and the snakeskin guitars first caught my attention on various guitar mag covers. The brown and grey ones were striking and one or two had real snakeskin on the body.
The first one had the skin over primer and sounded poorly, the second version had the snakeskin on the bare wood and sounded much better!
GMW guitars, they have the pointy headstocks, make excellent Charvel replica-guitars, some of their Warren replicas are featured. The french dinky is my favorite and there are photos of copies, the real things and the prototypes from Fender/Charvel, which were NAMM guitars and I'm sure the owners paid heavily for them.
I know from my USA Charvels experience that those guys are hardcore collectors, maybe more so than the Les Paul guys. There is a lot of forgery in the Charvel world, strating with things like neckplates, ect.
Warren's RTM pickup is a further development of the JB and has a great review.
Hopefully Charvel will eventually make the French Dinky available.
Here are the Bomber, Crossed Swords, Bloody Skull and Frenchie, the WDM Charvels:

Maybe this will grab your attention..  , at least I can count on Fillmore here, poor Megan dismissed from Rock of Love Charm School, she has popped up on the Guitars holiday edition though:

Great pic's and GREATER memories. I tell ya, Ed kicked that whole 'rear loaded' strat with cool paint thing off, but it was DeMartini and Lynch, who REALLY took it to the next level. I also used to love a couple of Vivian Campbells Charvel's. Rough Cutt and Orgasm's Amir Derakh also had some VERY cool neck through Charvel/Jackson strats that had VERY cool ww2 airforce graphics.

Yeah I have an awesome old Jackson catalog with pics of his guitars featured. Warren singlehandedly has boosted Charvels more than anyone in my opinion, the older guy you mentioned, he should be ashamed of that atrocious guitar he put out in his name and sold those tour guitars at ridiculous prices for his own pockets..

You know who, my arch nemesis..   Dutchboy. I still feel major agro from that side of the fence. I like to concentrate on the positive side of the industry. I think his selling of those piss poor EVH Charvels signed and played for a photograph on stage then Ebayed for mega bucks, was really awfull.
I like everything up to 1984 and then it has died for me and that's tough for many to take..
I was trying to get the guy who bought the NAMM Charvel WDM French to give me high res pictures of the graphics to copy it, but he didn't really respond as I had hoped.
They won't make this for some weird copyright reason that even the bofins at USA Charvels cannot satisfactorily explain to me...
Hopefully one day. I would like to snap up that WDM RTM Seymour Duncan Rattus Tonus Maximus pickup to install in a future guitar. Apparently it is Warren's big step up from it's JB basis!

JB's, I still miss the one that was in my '87 Baretta. The JB is an awesome pu. About the best one for a floyd equipped guitar (though my custom custom is real good) I bet Warren's new pu may even be better.

I love my twin JB's with gold plated polepieces on my Washburn Steve Stevens SS80!!
What do you think of my neck pickup, it is at the stock height and I have the bridge pickup raised up slightly on a drilled wooden dowell.
There isn't a huge volume disparity, but how does it look?

Update: Be sure to tune into VH1 on January 4, for the Rock of Love/Charm School reunion show, where it is reorted Megan called Ozzy" a brain-dead rockstar" to Sharon and she allegedly ran over and grabbed Megan's hair and wouldn't let go, security had to seperate them. I don't know if this will make it to on-air, but who knows?
How do I know all this meaningless crap, because I read the blog dlisted all the time, an unfortunate addiction I am trying to rehab from..
I'm sure Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake will enjoy watching it anyway..
