question on getting a les paul thats chambered

hey guys, a friend of mine who's father is a luthier is making a les paul for me and he is at the stage of whether it should be chambered or not. should it be chambered? =/ i want a woody tone, but also like billy squier tone, and if im correct he used a 59. werent 59's chambered? =/

I've never heard of any original 59 LP's being chambered. Gibson started weight relieving LP's starting in the early 80's. Chambered LP's are newer, maybe from the late 90's. Poke around on the Les Paul forum.

ok. i was very wrong then. i was under the impression that the '59 was chambered. ok, so i will def no have it chambered. Thanks!
