To Strat, or not to Strat....that is the question

guys I almost upgraded my speakers but I just couldnt find the right speaker/cab combo, for the right price that I felt comfortable with.
I only have one real main electric guitar and I'm sick of it needing fretwork because all the use it sees. So I've been considering getting another strat. This time around I want to go total vintage spec - 7 1/4 radius, vintage frets, etc.
I've been eyeing the classic series, not classic player, strats. Made in Mexico, 50's classic series strat. They cost $699. I've played a few and have been quite impressed with the feel and playability.
I've also been looking through the used market and it hasn't turned up much.
The one thing is, you can get a tokai off ebay in the same ballpark price range. Earlier ones are well over 1000 but some of the early 80's ones are in the 700 range.
I know theres a lot of good stuff said about tokai, but I dont know, and you never know what you're getting off ebay.
Thoughts on both?
Lookin to keep it under 800.
