What is the correct method of removing pressed in Floyd Rose bushings? Eventually I will be painting my guitar. I live in ohio and I need to wait till spring to paint the body of my guitar but I'd like to assemble the guitar and try it out so I need to put the bushings in.

Screw the post in, place a piece of cardboard on the face of the guitar with a piece of wood on top of that. Make sure the wood is big enough so you don't have any edges pressing down on the guitar and then use a claw hammer. Pry it up very slowly so you don't chip the paint or the wood.

A bit of heat on the bushing before you start pulling is a good idea.

You should leave 'em in. I always put the bushings in before finishing.

jcmjmp - that's a great idea. i've never heard of that, but it makes total sense. I guess you could just stick an iron down in there for a few minutes and let it heat it up huh? What do you use for this yourself?

I would just leave them in. I put mine together first cause I couldn't wait to play it. Before I painted it, I rolled up them foam ear plugs and stuffed it in the bushing holes so that paint wouldn't get in the threads and painted.

I use a 30w soldering iron.

Leave them in. Remove the posts. Put some round pieces of tape over them so you dont get paint down in there.
