Saw this bass played live many times from 1982 - 1988, including the German CT Rockpalast show in '83.

It's a road dog and is gonna need some work, but this will be a kick in the pants to play. I was shaking the house last night cranking thru the '69 SB and my Fender 2 x 15.

That is way cool! Can you get strings for it? I couldn't find any for my 8 string hagstrom, I'll probably have to make my own set. Phil

Hamer still offers them I think. They are for sale on eBay quite a bit. Dunno about the 8-string sets, but I'm sure you could use 8 of the 12-strings if need be.

Thanks for the tip. I just did a few searches, no luck for medium or short scale 8 string sets. I did find a few long scale sets. Phil

Not being a bass player myself, I gotta ask... is having strings in 4 sets of "triplets" common in a bass? I've never heard of such a thing. Seems like a finga-killa if you dont play it constantly, not to mention keeping it in tune must be a mutha.
:? :?

(Cool score, WOT!!)

Tom Petersson helped Hamer develop these in the 70's. Jon Brant joining Trick in '81 obviously had to get one too. While they aren't that common bands like King's X, Cinderella, and Galactic Cowboys had bass players that used them. I've wanted one for years. I figured I might as well buy the one that I saw so many times and inspired me to get one.

Here so you don't have to look through the whole site:

http://www.juststrings.com/dad-exl170-8.html

http://www.juststrings.com/rotosoundele ... tring.html

I know they look like long-scale. Didn't really see any short-scale ones in there. I did learn D'Addario makes sets for the 12 though. Cool!

Didn't Tom Petersson have an 18 string too? Phil

What is the tuning on your 12 string? Are the smaller strings unison octave? I'd love to hear that thing, it's quite a score. 8) Phil

Yeah, it's tuned like a 12-string guitar.
