M69 rings are the rings they used on original 58-60 LP Bursts, and the same ring used on many SG's, LP's through the late 60's. They didn't make any cream/white ones after 60, IIRC, so that's why the repro parts are so effing expensive.

The new ones for 09 are a little more accurate according to Gibson,But side by side my 08 there is not much difference between the two other than the 09's are a little whiter in color,not sure if the M69 is embossed underneath the ring itself,I doubt it highly?I don't know if these are available as of yet either? There is a company named across the pond that offers some that are real nice if you want dead accurate ones?

damn, i just wanted to post a link where i THOUGHT the rings may be cheaper... but they are even more expensive, at least $400!!

i'll post that link anyway...

http://www.crazyparts.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

klick on "Dead Mint Club" .. the rings are on page 2.

they're located in germany... so that might not be interesting for you as they will get even more expensive shipped, but maybe you'll find something else you could need... however, at least another source. :wink:

I just, absolutely do not understand why anyone would pay that much for two pieces of plastic that
1) Are not even the real thing
2) Are effing plastic
3) have effect on tone compared to any other plastic ring

Just don't get it. Someone's making a lot of money. Its not like they were carved out of solid plastic by Michael Angelo, right? right?

I'm not even a les paul player, but they've got REAL nerve charging that. Sometimes you see the pricing of things and you've got to wonder when will it stop? Its so easy to get so damn caught up in little specs and looks and things to have bragging rights and at the end of the day its about playing music. Absolutely ridiculous! :evil: They have strat knobs for 100 bucks. Living in a world where people drop serious money on making their guitar look like one from yesteryear all the way to the point where its just a piece of art, they leave it in a glass case to look at, really pisses me off. What happened to making some real music, THESE ARE JUST TOOLS!
