I've got a 2001 Iron Maiden strat which over the years has become my number 1 guitar with standard tuning along with my 84 Strat with texas specials in the bridge and middle, and a hot rails in the brige with the coil tapped for half step down tuning.
Anyways just recently the maiden strat has stopped working...I was jamming one day and when I was playing with the volume control it was cutting out and minutes later it died all together.
I opened it up last night and I saw two things. First, the white wire going to the 5-way switch had broken off, which I will be fixing, no problem there. I thought that would be the only problem, but as I was looking at the rest of the connections, I noticed a piece of buss wire going between all three of the potentiometers. I haven't seen this before and what concerns me is that the buss wire is connected to both of the tone pots and it continues on almost to the volume pot, but just before it would be right over the volume pot, it stops.
I don't see any evidence of anything broken off the volume pot or any buss wire laying around. I also don't see how this would just break off in the first place.
So my question is, should this buss wire be going to all 3 pots, or just between the two tone pots?

Re: 2001 Iron Maiden Strat wiring question
If it's connected to the backs of the pots it was intended to ground them all together, and I would have thought it should connect to the volume as well. But I've never seen an Iron Maiden Strat to be sure.

Re: 2001 Iron Maiden Strat wiring question
Thanks. I figured it would go between all three, since I don't see why someone would cut an extra 2 inches off the buss wire and not solder it to the pot.
I'll put a fresh piece of buss wire on there across all three and see how it goes.
Thanks!
