Fender Noiseless Pickups For Strat

I got one of these recently to put in the neck position of my strat. It's a Humbucker in bridge, single coil in neck setup.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I have no experience with single coils. The pickup comes with a white and black wire. Shouldn't this read a resistance across the two?

It's showing no resistance across the two.

Yes, it should show resistance accross the north/south leads (wires). If it shows zero, make sure that your meter is in the correct range (closest to 10k). If it still reads zero, the PU is shorted and useless.

That's what I thought.

This totally blows. They don't sell these in single pickups with black covers, so, I've already painted the cover black and will have a hard time exchanging. Ugh!

Just wanted to let the record show
1) Musician's Friend did good on exchanging the dead pickup

2) This is a really great sounding pickup... I like it A LOT. Blows away the Seymour Duncan equivalant... the name escapes me. This is dead quiet and sounds like a regular old single coil in the neck.
