I am so much more listening to Gary Moore and Steve Stevens these days, he probably wants more money..didn't design the HS-2, Hs-3 as he as always claimed, ect.
Life goes on, maybe he will hook up with a small luthier who can actually build and sell guitars the same as YJM plays on stage, there has been too much chicanery and nonsense about equipment, not on the level of VH, but still...

Well, I dont know that its Yngwie thats gonna need the luck, Dave. I've dealt with the DiMarzio's in person and on the phone quite a few times, and they're (to be P.C.) NOT the most people friendly organization on earth.
They're getting a LOT of competition from other pickup/parts mfg's lately, and their attitude hasn't changed a whit.
To me, with the interaction I've had with 'em?? They're making pickups, for Gods sake, not curing terminal diseases, ya know what I mean?? By their attitudes, its hard to tell the difference.
Yng will always get by... I doubt the world would miss DiMarzio pickups if they went belly up.

Just BTW, when you find out why the went their separate ways, (and I KNOW you will ) please post it... Im curious as to what happened.

I agree, who cares, life will go on. His playing is pretty crappy these days anyway. I doubt he was using the Hs-3 back in the early 80's when he sounded his best so maybe he will get a sponsorship with GFS pickups??

I wonder where Yngwie will get his leopard-print guitar straps now...

He should spend his money on a good audiologist or have the wax cleaned out of his ears, seriously...I don't feel like I will live long enough for him to "See The Light Tonight"..
He had the best DiMarzio MK II DOD250 tone hands down and just drove it into the ground, Magnum Opus and the Live at Budokan are the last YJM efforts I can listen to without cringing...maybe time to hang it up and say he won, outlasted them all, quit while you're ahead, I mean Guitar Hero III must be such a career milestone for him..

Kapo..you think Magnum Opus sucks, how come so many yngwie fans think that..it amazes me, oh well..

T.L, I think a lot of Shredders welcome the bass response from those HS3 as a way of fattening up their lead tone on the neck. I know i had an area 58 (if memory serves) or might have been the 67 in the neck of my fat strat and I hated it. No bass response and wayyyy too much spank and quack and this was using a 250 K vol pot.

As for Magnum Opus, it actually isn't "horrible" but Vescera sucks balls. His voice is shrill. Some of the tunes have decent parts in it but Yngwie himself said it was not a fav. and that it was rushed. To be honest, you can hear that. But hey no worries, cause War to End all Wars has the worst f_cking production I have ever heard and how he let that come out is beyond me. Some of the tunes are ok but man o man, horrible horrible horrible. Triggered drums blech! Don't make it that obvious..

He should really save his money for a good chemical dependency treatment center. I saw him live and he got so drunk that it was just sad. I didn't pay to watch a guitar hero make a fool of himself. He's a "has been", IMO. I greatly respect what he did early on but I couldn't care less what pickup he uses at this point.

toner, Yngwie to be fair has been clean and sober for many years now, dosen't even smoke ciggies. I will always love his playing, attitude and he is indeed the maestro in many respects.
As far as Vescera, you get used to his voice, the Live at Budokan '94 DVD is awesome. I like parts of Magnum Opus immensely.
If I can listen to the bleating stuck pig that is Vince Neil on his Exposed CD with Steve Stevens, then I can take Vescera... .
The 'Ripper' I can't even stand for 5 minutes.
Seriously, Yngwie needs a great producer again and someone needs to take the wheel from him, total control has made his music too incestuous.
For many of us serious fans, too much monkey business has gone on with his management, or lack of it and I have chosen to jump off the merry go round.
I haven't even listened to Perpetual Flame all the way through after having it on order from CD Japan for 4-5 months!!
The hubris surrounding the Duck replica, permanently soured me, particularly to Fender, who I was on the fence about previously.
The relicing is among the most realistic I have ever seen, but the rest of the guitar....particularly the playability and the dubious specs, wrong radius, ect.
I am glad I couldn't afford it.
I have sold my immaculate 2004 YJM Strat, which was a lovely guitar, but found myself wanting a stock maple board and "7.25 radius.
My ideal Yngwie Strat as I have said before would be a 1968 style body, machine screw 4 bolt, bullet truss rod, brass nut, fat frets, but not the extreme size Dunlops on the scalloped models and graduated scallops as on the original Duck and the MIM Ritchie Blackmore Strat, but with a maple board.
I found the HS-3, YJM's somewhat limiting without the DOD250/YJM308 setup, so some other single coil Strat pickups would work as well..
Yngwie may well be leaving FMIC next as well, so we will see.

To be honest,it is fine to say that he needs to give up the wheel and let producers do the work BUT he is far too proud. Honestly, production has suffered and so have the songs. I think the biggest point is that the tunes were very 80's oriented and that is where they should have stayed. I personally LOVE Eclipse. Man what a record. It is simply amazing. The playing, the songs, the vibe. Just fantastic. Then it became a formula and starts to go down hill. I hated the production on Fire and Ice as well.. thought it really was a step down from Eclipse.

As for Ripper.. I hear ya. $hit. The guy was "alright" for Priest covers but everything else just sounds bad. I don't care about the ranges he can hit. Vince Neil on the other hand just has fun and is a total candy rocker. I dig taht vibe so i would say he is way above Ripper in my books.I think dirty sleezy strippers when I hear Neil. I think bald head and bad Malmsteen when i hear Ripper now.

I am listening to so many other players at the moment, HS-3 sounds best in the neck on a Strat, I had the YJM on my sig Strat in the neck, the MK I YJM's had two HS-3's, better.

He quit smoking years ago.

"Fire & Ice" is one of my all-time favorite YJM albums (musically), but yes, the production was NOT very good -- at least not on the guitar tracks. My other favorite would have to be "Odyssey".

I enjoyed "Inspiration" quite a lot. I also like "Marching Out"...
