One of the things that really sold me on this guitar is the thin Nitro cherryburst finish which has that washed out faded orange look without the in your face tomato red. As for the build quality it is impeccable and as good or better than what Gibson's Custom Shop is building these days, and might I add, at a fraction of the cost. This guitar is sweet and plays like a million bucks, especially with my 68 12xxx Series Amp! If the Reverend Billy G can play one it's good enough for me?

It's kinda like owning one of George's DIY amps if you can live without the big G & M names you've got yourself one heck of a guitar and amp.

Looks beautiful! I have a Tokai LP myself and I love it. Glad to see you like yours too. Mine came with non-original pickups though. How do you like the stock ones?

IMO the stock pickups have the vintage LP mojo and are kinda reminiscent of the Pearly Gates. Like any pup though, they're not for everybody, but they are NOT cheap sounding pups that would require changing. Before I bought this guitar new (2009) I figured since it was MIJ, I would be changing a lot of parts especially the hardware, NOT so because the hardware on this guitar is top shelf and the only thing that is metric is the tail piece posts and anchors, the rest is imperial. Like I said earlier, Billy Gibbons plays a Tokai as well and it sounds pretty much like his Miss Pearly. Then again, Billy could play a broom handle and it would sound like Pearly.

Nice! Old Tokais are great guitars imo.

I've never owned a really old Gibson Les Paul (although I had a hummingbird when I was a teenager), so the nicest LP I've ever owned or played was an really old cherry Ibanez one. It was so Les Paul, but I was young and new to guitars, it was a bit noisy, so I sold it for 80 bucks
There is a Burny LP Custom that looks quite bloody good and going fairly cheaply here, but it's at the other end of the country/islands. I won't buy a guitar without playing it first (unless I won lotto and got a you know what.... '59  )
