Anyone built a LP from scratch here? I need some help with body staining a maple flame top, and neck joint glueing. Working on the neck now and letting the body glue dry a bit. Have some Stewmac amber and mahogany stain in the mail somewhere. Hotglue?????
Lots of help on the My LesPaul forum but my newbie questions seem redundant there sometimes. "Use the "search" button son".... :lol:
Way too many opinions over there...think us amp guys are anal? You havent seen anything fella's!

Wow thanks dude! I've never seen that thread before. Telecaster forum threw me off. I would have never looked there. It covers some of the questions I have exactly. I 've been following this one:
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luthier ... build.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but there a small details that just get kinda overlooked because most of the guys there have been building them for years. I'll get up a few pics with where I am.

George bought one from this guy? I'll bet it sounds awesome. I honestly never liked LesPauls, but once I saw guys building them, I just had to give it a try.

No, I didn't. I used a scrapper from StewMac for the top with a little routing. I used the '59 templates from here, and have been reading the 2 threads above.Pretty much everything you'd think to ask is in those 2 threads.

I havent drilled the bridge and stop tail yet because I see other guys didnt have a great alignment. You really have to set the neck first I guess.

Dude, you made that? Wow. Let me know when you are close to completing so I can send you some 0.022uf 160v mustards for the tone pots. Also you might want to pm fredyfrits on you tube, he could help you, and he's in Canada I think.

I watched all the youtube stuff as well. This guy has some of the best. The key is just take it one step at a time and take your time.

Just finished looking at the video, nice. I don't have the time right now to start something like that, to busy studying for a promotional exam. But I did buy to Les Paul's from china. I've replaced all the hardware accept the frets, that's next.

Fading in the sun (Canadian version).

Added some StewMac vintage amber stain, and a few coats of nitrocellulose(stinky!). Need to drill the bridge holes this weekend and glue in neck. Grainfill and mahogany stain next.

Still debating on a darker out burst though. :scratch:
