Hi!

I´ve bought the Special. I really like this guitar. It has warmer fuller sound than my Texas Strat (Smits pup).

I have en issue with the volume lowered. It looses top end.
Is there a mod I can do to remedy this? Like disconnecting the tone control (don't really use it)

I wouldnt disconnect the tone circuit. The tone pot is basically a 250k or a 500k resistor with the cap in series when the tone pot is not being used, and even though its design is to shunt highs to ground, disconnecting it wont really affect the guitars volume when you roll down the volume pot, cause the volume pot is basically doing the same thing to a lesser degree... shunting highs to ground.

Try installing a "bright cap mod"... its really easy and it remedies the issue you're having.
You can wire this with or without the 100k resistor, and a .001mfd cap.
I usually dont use the resistor (using a .001mf cap only), and the results have always worked well.

This simple mod bleeds treble back to the amp when the volume pot is rolled off, and you can still retain your tone circuit. If you want your tone circuit to be a little more usable, change the cap to a .01mf, or even a .004mf. It works much better, IMO, especially if you're using a high gain amp setting.

Thats the exact mod I did to one of my old Wolfgangs with a push-pull pot. That's the ticket!

Yep, that'll fix the problem. That's a high pass filter.

I don't like treble pass filters on the guitar volume control. Sounds like artificial highs in the tone... Ty disconnecting the tone control first, it's much easier thing to do and give it a listen. It works for me
