Why do most wiring diagrams show the tone cap running between the vol and tone pots but the seymour duncan figs show the tone cap grounded to the tone pot???

IMO, I think thats just a wire saving (read: money saving) technique, Chiefy.
The circuit works the same either way its wired up, but I would think that if a company like Ibanez uses the existing wire on the tone cap to connect the pots (as opposed to a separate piece of wire), when they're pumping out a ga-zillion guitars a day, saving that piece of wire probably helps the penny pinchers in accounting sleep a little better at night.
FWIW, I put my caps between the lug and the pot can. Thats strictly from a "working-on-it" point of view, cause it makes life easier if I want to play around with tone cap values.
Anyway, thats my guess, brother-man!!

Thanks, filly.
That's what I figured, too. Finally getting around to the wiring up the old Guild project.
