That reminds me, I rewired a buddy's epiphone les paul. He brought me those SD Alnico Pro 2 "Slash" model pickups, and I had some of those Russian paper-in-oil caps. You can get them relatively cheap compared to the Vitamin Q's or the Jensens. Maybe 5 or 10 bucks a pair shipped.
Redid the wiring to the 50s Gibson wiring, which helps retain treble better when turning down the volume. I'm a Strat man, but I was so impressed with the outcome I've been looking on Craigslist for a beater Epiphone LP to do the same thing to.

this is closer to a 225 then the 715 that gibson used for the afd´s

but get nos 192p if you can.
