I did that with an old brass hinge I cut up once. Not sure about the floating bridge sound though. I can see a lot of fucked up guitars from guys trying this as well.

I was just thinking that a floating bridge sounds a bit thin already. Maybe it would improve but logic seems to point my mind that it would sound even thinner.
