hey guys, i really love the sound of the singles in my strat but have a fat strat and dont like the tone of the humbucker, too harsh for me, so iw ant to put the middle pickup in the bridge, but with the singles, i want to wire them to stop the 60 cycle hum in all positions, i read that Ritchie blackmores tech wired another pickup out of phase in his guitars under the pickguard on some of them to get rid of the hum.
i dont mind having two pickups in the guitar or three has i have a spare single coil lying around aswell,
anyways, can anyone think of a way for me to wire it so that it is hum cancelling. i just mainly want to have a neck pickup on its own and a bridge pickup on its own, anything else isnt as esential
thanks
Tom

I believe Blackmore lowered the middle pick up below the pickguard or removed it completely because it got in the way of his picking.

yeah, he lowered it in the early days because he didnt like the sound of it, then when he started having them custom made, his tech made it a dud pickup

I just love Blackmores studio work from the "Who Do We Think We Are, Machine Head, Burn" era.

Not possible. Single coils are what they are...
2 singles are needed to cancell each other out...
Thus "Hum" bucker...
Now if you have stack singles, that's a whole new ballgame...

u might want to contact John Suhr
http://suhrguitars.com/- apparently he has device ( forget what its called) that goes in your guitar that makes your precious single coils act like humbuckers with out actually being humbucker pickups.

That looks like a great idea. Actually I rarely ever use th emiddle coil myself so I wonder how that middle pickup dummy thing works? Its flush with the P/G. Then again so is my neck pickup almost. But I just wonder how that backplate device really effects the guitars tone.
