i just discovered this huge session player. where have i been? since i tend to go for all out in your face, and this really isnt the kind of music i go for, ( its alittle too polished for me ) this guys sense of dynamics really catches my ear. anyway thought i would share.

Saw him with Kirk Fletcher (Fab T-Birds guitarist) a few weeks back here in Hermosa Beach at Cafe Boogaloo. They're both great players, makes for a great evening when you see them play, together or separately.

Michael and Robben Ford did some Monday night gigs at Safari Sam's on Sunset from April through July...which was incredible, too.

I'm really enjoying this. Wow
His rolled off clean is so amazing in "Worried life Blues" going from that ripping intro lick at 00:10 to 00:15 to the rolled off
clean at 00:21 with a little tremolo where he says O Lordi Lord

Gave me goosebumps.

then to tone ofthe Bomp Bomp Bomp Bomp Bomp Bomp....da. da.da.da at the :32 to :36

So pretty a clean, and then such forcefullness when driven
.
Man that is fucking sweet. His driven blues tone is allmost Scott Hendersonesk in a Dolemite/Snake Soda kinda way. I love that type of tone.
The BOB and TOM intro song has nice tone in this type of style as well.

But his clean is something else. Any info on this rig would be appreciated.

Thanks for sharing :D
I love this kind of stuff.

Mike does use an OD100 with a 2x12 vertical cab. Kirk Fletcher of the Fab T-Birds has one, too, but he yanks two power tubes to make it a 50 watt.

Mr. Landau, I remember him. He used to be probably second to Lukather for getting session calls back in the 80's, as far as the "Hot Rock" stuff goes. He used to be big on old Marshalls. Played the rhythm on Rod Stewarts "Infatuation" (Beck took the solo) He played modded out strats alot back then. I think that was him on that song "I wear my sunglasses at night".
