50w plexi 1987 master volume mod TEMPLATE

Post by frusciante89 » Sun Aug 04, 2013 1:00 pm

Hey guys, I want to build a 50w 1987 with a master volume mod... Unfortunately I didn't find any template "off the shelf" so i decided to open solidworks and draw mine... I'm sharing the file, let me know if the space organization makes sense :)

The guy that put the Lar-Mar recommends that you do not put the pot so close to the inputs to avoid crosstalk. I have put one in the presence spot and in the trem control hole without issues. You may get away with it with good lead dress and shilding but you may not - which makes your dedicated chassis a bit redundant. Putting it at the other end (near the pesence pot etc also keeps the shielded wires much shorter keeping the capacitance (and potential rolling off of highs) lower.

I normally just use the ext speaker, but have drilled a hole on back of a build (not a original). Although, I do not change the master often. I find from the back it is most quiet and as was said, the lead dress is very short and I can keep it above everything. I also only use PEC dual pots and shielded wire. I know some who have gotten away with twisting, but shield just works better.
Thanks for the help!
