what do you mean a 10k pot instead of the 1meg or you used a 10k pot instead of the 10k resistor? i will have to try those diodes.

10k resistor, .22 or .33uF cap, diode pair, left lug of a 10k pot, wiper to ground.

Nownthe diodes only clip by whatever amount you send to ground. Squash control.
