Mains fuse blowing, help!!

Post by nikarc » Sat Dec 05, 2009 9:50 pm

Hi, while testing the with the multimeter today, I touched one of the pins on v2 and it arced and blew a fuse. Now when I replace the fuse with a new one I hear a hum for a split second, then the fuse blows. I was doing the first step of testing with no tubes in it and I did not flip the standby switch on. I didn't smell or see any smoke form the PT. I also have the PPIMV installed in case that matters. Can anybody help me fix this, I'm going crazy

I tried testing with a light bulb limiter like in this thread: http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php ... &sk=t&sd=a and after removing the green heater wiring from the PT, the light bulb burned bright and the indicator light does not come on, but after removing the red wires going to the bridge rectifier, the indicator comes on but not the light bulb.

Hi.

Theres not too much in circuit with only the main switch on - S/By switch off. Post some pics of the rectifier, PT and bias section area so we can have a close look.

I posted in the repairs/resto threadhttp://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29114 It seems my problem is the rectifier. Thanks for the help though!
