I have a pair of Celestion Greenbacks that I was wanting to use with my Plexi kit but am afraid I may blow them. Anyone have advice and/or experience using them? I only go to about 7 at the most on the amp so not sure if there will be a meltdown when used like that.

JTM 45, borderline melting.
50w 1987x kit, definite melting after a short but really glorious tone. You really need two 60w speakers to cover the volume you're running the amp at on 7.

What if you ran a 2x12 with Greenbacks and another 4x12 with G12T-75's at the same time? I have both of those cabinets, both in 16 ohms so I would be running the head at 8 ohms. Would the greenbacks still get messed up?

No they will be fine, you will distribute the load equally across the six speakers.

Sorry to disagree with you, but he'll send 1/2 the power to the 4x12 and the other 1/2 to the 2x12.

Does that mean I can safely do this? Or should I sell the 2x12 to get speakers that are more capable of handling the 50 watt plexi in a 2x12 cab?
I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now haha

If you run the 2x12 and 4x12 together, the amp will split the power evenly between the two cabs. So one cab gets it's power split between four speakers, the other between two. If you run a 50w head, the 2x12 cab will be fine when used with the 4x12.
You can't run it alone without risking blowing them, which it should do in a short amount of time, sooner if you turn it up more. If you play the 50w amp at 3-4, then the 2x12 should be OK...no guarantees of course, if you use boost and OD pedals, only if you use no pedals.
I know...what fun is that?
So ultimately, you would be better off with 2 higher power handling speakers in the 2x12. Get them at least 50w or higher each.

Okay right on. Thanks so much for the clarification!
