Here's a picture of the insides of my MetroAmp before I installed the power cable. In this picture there is actually one resistor that is wrong that I didn't find out until after I brought it into the local amp guru to get the voltages checked up and the amp tested. It's next to the gigantic black capacitor in a group of three resistors hooked up to one terminal. The middle one was supposed to be a 470 Ohm resistor and I had accidentally put in a 47K Ohm resistor. Woops! After my tech installed a NOS Allen Bradley 470 Ohm resistor, she now sounds beautiful. I LOVE THIS AMP! THANK YOU SO MUCH METROAMP!!!

As my tech noted, and it is true, the bright channel on this thing is TOO bright. So I'll be throwing a 250 cap in there at some point once the amp gets more "burned in".

Now all I want to do is BUILD MORE muahaha

Nice job!

They can be a bit bright, but run it in first, and play with tubes.

Also jumpering or using a y cable can allow to mix a bit more bass channel to darken it up.

That thing looks hot, and I know it sounds as good as it looks!

Congrats on the build. Give it a good break in period and see how she sweeten up. I jumper my channels and it is just settling in to some delicious tones. My mod it a bit but it is an amazing amp as is. Cheers.

I really got to let her rip today for a bit while the neighbors were out. Using my Epiphone Elitist SG '61 Reissue and my 2x12 stuffed with Greenbacks, OH MAN. This thing KILLS! Sounds excellent with my Earthquaker Devices White Light pedal, but it gets really out of control if I throw in a fuzz, for example the Devi Ever Shoe Gazer I got awhile back but never had the chance to use because I didn't have an amp. This thing will destroy small animals no doubt about it. I LOVE IT!

If you take the cap off of your bright volume pot, it will like distortion pedals a lot better. Easy to try.

Changed the 500pf Silver Mica bright cap I put in to a 270pf Ceramic Disc cap that my amp tech let me have. The bright high end is way easier to manage. Would a 250pf Silver Mica cap sound significantly different than the Disc? Just wondering if I'm really losing anything by using a cheaper part than the 250pf Silver Mica that came with the kit. Thanks.

I think current production silver micas are better sounding that current production ceramic caps. Less harshness but that is just me. The bright cap swap is one of easiest mods to try so pick up a silver mica some day and give it a try. No rush if the ceramic is working for you leave it in for a while.
