Has anyone added another tube to the 50w chassis? I really like the small footprint of the 50w but want to experiment with a 4 gain stage pre. I am thinking another socket underneath the turret board near the inputs will be the only spot, so obviously the wiring will need good clearance.
Would there be any issues with doing this (i.e. noise given the close proximity of components)? I am assuming that the board will be high enough for clearance of the socket - haven't measured this though.
Cheers

Just use a plate driven tonestack and then you could feasibly get 4 gain stages without using the extra tube. You could add an extra tube as well, but I'd mount it back a few inches from the other tubes and keep it away from the inputs.

Thanks - I am beginning to think the 100w chassis is more practical, given I'd want to incorporate relays etc, and I would want to keep the CF to retain the authenticity of the plexi mode.briango wrote:Just use a plate driven tonestack and then you could feasibly get 4 gain stages without using the extra tube.
