50watt chassis order

Post by neikeel » Fri Oct 21, 2011 11:20 am

Although George's 50w chassis were spot on they are, at present, not available through George so Brian Wallace is having a limited batch of twenty made (two different styles).

Hi Neil

I'm late on this thread have seen on Brian's web site, could you please refresh the species on these chassies. I think they would be metal, IEC, 2 outputs cab, no voltage selector. Is it correct ? :?

That's right. Style 1 is the one for '67-'68 amps (including tube-rectified ones) and should have an internal preamp filter cap (either on the board or mounted on the inside wall), whereas style 2 is correct for ca. '69 and on amps, with a hole for a preamp filter cap can next to the choke.

Go get your chassis, folks!

I would go for one Style 2 chassis (rectifier bridge), Brian H's board, and as Neil indicate to that place for the cabinet http://www.ampmaker.com/infocentre/thread-38.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Where are you sourcing face and back plates?

I would definitely be in on this (and a PT as well) but the timing is all wrong for me unfortunately. :(
My money pit of a car has seen to that idea. :evil:

Just a note: the chassis with preamp cap on top seems to have been introduced in 1970 at the earliest. I can't find any photos of '69 amps with the cap on top, they all have the inside 32+32 cap (mounted on the board into '68, then later on the inside wall near the PT).

Hi.
Since I'd like to follow George's instructions step by step without changing a thing (ok maybe one or two, star grounding for instance) could you say which style is closer to what George offered?
Thanks!

Style 1 is the type that George used to have.

Sorry, Did J, I don't have the measurements/dimensions of this chassis

I've asked the same question to Brian, but I think he would be over booked at this time :mrgreen:

By the way and to clarify the chassis style, is this one http://marstran.com/6768%2011451.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is Style 1 or Style 2 :?:

Maybe I'm wrong on the choice I've made :oops: Thanks for help !
