50watt build. Langner style with PPIMV

Post by metalhead3ecr » Wed Nov 14, 2012 12:08 am

This is my first build. I bought the chassis from triode...it is intended for a 100watt. I am trying to make a Curt Mitchell Langner amp with a PPIMV. Advice and comments are welcomed!

Why did you leave the first preamp tubes heater wires untwisted? Otherwise looking good.

Good Question! I actually do not know the math behind it...but if you go to Curt Mitchell's site, you can see that Langner left them untwisted on his amp too....so I just copied Langner's wiring. I don't know if it is done on purpose or just lazy
Here it is.

Yeah I think you can get away with it but if you have hum issues when you finish it you better suspect those untwisted heaters. I'd twist them now when it still is easy. You've done great heaters, do the icing on the cake now. ;)

seems logical! I will twist them up this weekend. All that is left to do is hook up the power indicator, fuses, and power inlet, then connect the PTP board and bias the thing. Hopefully she will make some type of noise this weekend!

One thing I just noticed is that you are going to put the ppimv to input jack hole. That won't work. It will oscillate, even if you use shielded wire. Put it to one of your speaker jack holes OR the indicator light hole.

Oh and also, twist your OT secondarys together (the wires going to the impedance switch).
