Finished My First Amp!

Post by metalhead3ecr » Sun Dec 23, 2012 10:22 pm

I have been playing nonstop since I finished it this morning. Plays great. I will make a YouTube video eventually to demonstrate the tone.

I attempted to copy Curt Mitchell's (Langner modded) amp. I got verrrrryyyy close.

Here are some ugly pics to start off.

I will post the schematic that ended up working. Nothing to hide here...you guys helped me troubleshoot and build the damn thing

Cheers! :toast:

Let's here it, I've done it already and shared it with all most every one here. I have Youtube clips. Post a clip show off. Change the 0.10uf at the phase inveter to 0.022uf

Great man, I'm glad you got it working! Wiring is much more pretty than the previous version. Merry Christmas and enjoy the amp!

Just to make sure I am looking at the same thing you guys are.

And you want me to change out the 0.1uF and swap in a 0.022uF.

Cool I will try it today!

@frenchie very true. I have cranked it to 4 on the volume. Parts will burn in eventually. But I can't thank this forum enough...it's the type of amp that makes me want to play!!!

Component break in is eye opening. I thought it was cork sniffing until one day my amp just started sounding even better. 8)

Why the tape on the extra gain stage components? I wanna see those too. :P

The taped part is the first three pairs of cathode caps and resistors. I used the tape as a way to shield from the shielding in the head cab.

I have been sick lately, but I will post the schematic for you! There is still the above tweaking to try too!!

Thanks
Ed
