Filtering?

Post by revolver1 » Wed Oct 18, 2017 2:42 am

I have a few questions I wanted to iron out before starting my next build but I'll ask them in separate threads to avoid confusion.

It seems the 50watt info isn't as straight forward or easy to define as it is for its 100watt counter part.

Regarding filtering am I right in thinking post 69 all cans on top all cans 50/50uf?

Was the transitional time frame as it was with the 100watt?

I'm a bit lost with the lower filtering values.... Does this sound right?

Dual 50/50uf on the mains for 100uf total but some times they went out with just one half of the can wired for 50uf?

Dual 40/40uf one half for screens and one for the phase inverter? What voltage are these cans?

And then I guess 32/32uf on the pre amp?

I only have experience with the 100watt, is 100uf on the mains stiff?

So if I have this right to get close with modern cans could I go with

Dual 32/32uf for 64uf on the mains?

Dual 50/50uf for 50uf on the screens and 50uf on the phase inverter @ 450v?

And dual 32/32uf on the preamp?

Or 32/16uf mains and the rest 32uf?

Or just 50/50 all round.

I gotta say I love the lower filtering on the 100watt so I guess this is what I'm after in a 50w format.

We'll I may as well answer my own question for any one else looking for the same info.

It would seem the answer is 100uf on the mains (2× Dual 50's). Some did go out with one side connected only for 50uf.

The consensus for nice touch sensitivity seems to be 32/32uf on the pre amp.

Either 32/32uf on the phase inverter and screens for a looser feel or 50/50uf but apparently there's not a lot of difference between the two.

I find it hard to see on a lot of pictures, they are either blury or the label is facing away from the camera. The ones I can see have 33uf or 47uf on the pre and 47uf for the rest.

With this in mind I'm going to go with 32/32uf on the pre and 50/50uf for the rest.
