btw to get more into "confusing": i was watching the live at Paris from 1980 with Bon and i see that near Malcom there are 3 Marshall heads with red/black plastic power/standby switches..so i think that they are post '75-'76 right? and if they are superleads they have the split cathod and all the features of the metal panels i suppose..but if they are superbass than it's another story.
Also an a live from 1977 they have some marshall with the red/black switches on stage..

So which amp can reproduce that "fuzzy" sound of Angus in whole lotta rosie? then i will not buy it!! ahha!

by all accounts, the live amps in that period were standard master volume amps. I don't find this confusing at all

They'll both get you there and are great amps. I have a JTM 45/100 build and it works beautifully.

Marci I'm in the same dilema...don't know which one to build. The 45/100 or the 67. I have the same tastes you have but which one gets us there? Right now I'm leaning toward the 67 but that could change tomorrow. My only experience is my 68 50 watt lead spec. I wish I could A/B both side by side but that is a luxury I won't have unless I build both. Let us know what you end up with.
Miss those Metro kits terrible!

At the moment i'm deciding if it's cheaper to buy a Marshall 1959 reissue used (there is one on ebay pretty cheap) and install a new board plexi 67 style, new choke and OT and maybe new filter caps, or to buy a kit to build a 67 plexi (but i still haven't understand which kit i have to buy to build it and if it will include everything)

the 67 is quite a bit louder than the 45/100. a 45/100 can be manageable in a band context but the later 100watters often get to loud if you want the amp to distort

doh!!
i wanna try to build a superbass more than a superlead (also if they are pretty simple to switch between)..so if i wanna a 67 what should i buy?

and i live in italy so it will be easier for me to have the european AC socket for the chassis not the hole for the AC straight-in cable

the 69 superbass has the same circuit as the 67 but the filtering is higher and the ot is different. also, the chassis is different

Look at the barebones '67/'68 chassis kit, and there's an option in the drop-down menus in the description to choose a complete kit. But there are no step-by-step instructions for the '67/'68 kit.

The 67/68 amps are great iconic rock amps but the JTM45/100 KT66 amp design has something great going on with that tone, I love the one I built this year and as someone posted the volume on the 45/100 is managable with no attenuator. you cant go wrong with any of these builds for certain.
