The red stuff on the terminals is actually just from a red sharpie. I was trying to make it look like the red dye Marshall used to put on them.

I just got in from tonight's gig. I played this amp and it absolutely rocked! I'm going to hate to let it go. Oh well, all the more incentive to build another one. What color should I go for next????

I have a couple white head cases in stock.........

By the way......

***cheesey announcer voice***

This amp (or one like it) can be yours for the low, low price of $1575.

Sorry guys, couldn't resist.

I just took a gig on bass with my cousin's husband on drums. Maybe soon I can afford a nice new Metro 100watt Super Bass to terrorize the crowd with.......would look sharp in white.......unless you have a 200watt Metro Major in the works..... :D :D

Hey George,

Is that a Allen Bradley carbon comp that you're using for the neg feedback resistor?

Can you take a guess at what's making this amp sound so good?

It's obviously the red case. :D

It's just the sum of the parts. I've got the formula down pretty good.
This time I used all carbon film, except for the 2 watt power resistors and the 47k NF. I did use the fast recovery diodes that were suggested by Don Butler. Those may be having a positive affect.

The big tone items are the Heyboer trans, Sozo caps and JJ tubes.

I think it's that blue BC electrolytic! :P

I noticed that you're using ceramic caps too (except for the 47pf). I just put them in my '74 and I really think they help smooth out the tone and make things warmer.

Have you had a chance to try out the Vishay metal film resistors in any of your builds?

So I took my usual black 100 watt to tonight's gig and the whole band was going "where's the red amp? it sounded soooo good".

What are ya gonna do?
I wonder if they were just hearing with their eyes......

Is this amp sold already? If you need some more ears I would love to try and compare the red with your other amp and see if there really is a difference to my ears.

This amp isn't sold. I built it to take pics and make sound clips. I'm going to put a page on the site for complete amps.
You're welcome to try it out. You heard the one I gig with last week.

I can't wait to get that fuzz you're building. The one you brought to Rubble's sounded awesome!

I should have the trannys for the Fuzz in the next few days. I already have the board working just need to get the trannys in and tweak it.

That red beast was a hottie. Hopefully it will reside with an awesome player.
