Which Metro amp is best for me?

Post by rich2k4 » Sat Feb 24, 2007 5:50 pm

hello, i am looking to purchase a new metro amp, and i am wanting to get the most versatile marshall tone possible.

i am wondering which metro amp will be able to get the sounds of Paul Kossoff, Angus Young, Cream, jimmy page, and jimi hendrix.

i also somewhat enjoy van halen type tones but i don't know if its worth it to get a 68 metro replica.

do you think the 67 replica would be best for me? if not what would you reccomend?

I would suspect the '67 replica sounds like the best fit for most of what you've listed above. But the '68 would do the job as well, and there isn't much difference in price between the two, whether in kit form or built by VG. For that matter, a '69 Super Bass clone might be a good fit for most of those sounds too.

Wouldn't the 68 make more sense since you have the variac voltage swich on it. I love the bands you mentioned and heavier and don't know which is one for me. But I ike the idea of not having to crank it and getting tones that similar.

Does the 68 have a slight edge gain wise?
